Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
